Discovering YOU
Discovering YOU
Based on the book by Girl Got Faith, Discovering You is a three part video series that will help young people get a better understanding of their identity in God, how they can relate to God, and how their lives can impact the world around them. How we relate to God
When people think of religion they often think of rules and things you can and can’t do. In this video, Emma discusses how for us as Christians, faith is more than a book of do’s and don’ts, but rather a relationship with a living God who loves us and wants the best for us.
Discussion points:
- Ask your young people to form groups and discuss one time they felt God’s love in a real way. This will help them to remember his closeness in times they feel disconnected.
- What are some of things you can do to stay connected to God this week

Identity in Christ
As Christians we believe that our identity comes from God. Emma takes us through the story of Gideon as we discuss the importance of identity and believing what God says about us.
Discussion points:
- What lies have you believed about yourself? Get your young people to write down the names/lies they’ve believed about themselves on a piece of paper, then ask them to rip it up! Thanking God that those names or lies don’t define them but rather, his truth does.
- What are some of the names that God has given us? Rewind the video 05:41 to jog your memory and speak those over each other.

Discovering your gifts and talents
In this video, Emma takes us through The Parable of the Talents and relates it to us today. Encouraging us to use what God has given us for his glory, being vessels of honour and not to keep it to ourselves because of fear or unbelief.
Discussion points:
- What gifts, talents or material possessions have you been entrusted with?
- How can you use them to bring glory to God?
